About
2 languages 2 cool
Congratulations! You have decided to take the plunge and move abroad. There is some excitement and some challenges along the way. Take this opportunity to live abroad and become fluent in the language. Think of the implications for your children and future generation. Don’t worry about being 100% fluent. That will come with work.
If you have come to this website it is because you want to take charge of your destiny, You want to make living abroad more meaningful and immerse yourself into the host nation, you want to take your language to the next level.. If you have done any amount of traveling to a foreign country where your language is not spoken, you know that when it comes to communicating with the locals, non verbal cues such as gestures and pointing will get you only so far. And, you clearly realize that your high school Spanish or French is all but a distant memory. I should know because I have taught high school Spanish (Spanish I- AP Spanish) for over fifteen years. The high school curriculum generally is not designed for learners to function in a foreign speaking society, rather provide you with a foundation on which to build.
Maybe you work for the Foreign Service or the US Department of Defense. Maybe you have a special skill set. Maybe you are a graduate student doing research abroad, a digital nomad moving from country to country, or a digital expat who has decided to work for yourself/make a living online while living overseas. Or, maybe you are a perpetual tourist who doesn’t have a resident visa but enjoys living abroad.
Regardless of your status in the country, even rudimentary knowledge of the local language will be necessary. I am glad that you are here and hope that this website serves you well. The resources provided will help you break the language barrier and live your best life abroad.
